A man accused of murdering his older sister in her South Carolina home has made his first court appearance, during which he offered a cryptic message.
Anthony Lopez, 39, is accused of killing his sister, 53-year-old Lisa Rosenzweig, in her home in Rock Hill, located in the northern part of the South Carolina close to the North Carolina border. According to Charlotte ABC affiliate WSOC, police found Rosenzweig dead in her home on Nov. 9, 2024, after being called to the house for a welfare check.
Lopez was announced as a suspect about a month later, on Dec. 6, WSOC reported. He was arrested by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police on Dec. 6 and extradited back to South Carolina on Thursday.

As local CW outlet WCCB reported, Lopez appeared in court on Friday — and shared his thoughts with the media.
“Follow God’s law and man’s law,” he is heard saying while looking directly into the camera, and nodding his head, WCCB reported. According to the outlet, Lopez declined an attorney and is representing himself. He faces the death penalty if convicted.
According to local news outlet The Herald, citing police, Rosenzweig had been hit in the head.
A local contractor who had access to Rosenzweig’s home helped police get inside, WSOC reported. Neighbors told the affiliate that they were in shock after learning of the violence.
“I would like to find out that it was an accident and it wasn’t somebody that came in and abused her,” Betty Taylor, who lived next door to Rosenzweig, told the station. “She didn’t deserve that. She didn’t.”
Lopez was denied bond. Records show that he is currently being held at the York County Detention Center.
