GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Ga’terica Ashanti Mona Thompkins, 22, and Itionna Lajancia Nyjah Thompkins, 24, were arrested yesterday after allegedly hitting a vehicle with a brick, pipe, and glass bottle.

At about 6:48 p.m. on October 3, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to Southern Pines Apartments (4145 SW 17th Place), where the victim said that as soon as she drove into the apartment complex, the women started throwing things at her vehicle without any provocation.

The victim said she began taking video of the incident, and she said the two women walked toward her vehicle, with Ga’terica Thompkins holding a brick and Itionna Thompkins holding a pipe. Ga’terica Thompkins allegedly hit the vehicle with the brick, leaving a crack on the windshield, and Itionna Thompkins allegedly hit the vehicle multiple times with a pipe and then picked up a glass bottle and threw it at the victim’s vehicle.

The officer estimated the damage to the victim’s vehicle at $5,000.

Post Miranda, Ga’terica Thompkins reportedly said at first that she didn’t damage the vehicle; she later confessed to throwing a brick at the vehicle but said she missed.

Post Miranda, Itionna Thompkins reportedly said at first that she didn’t damage the vehicle; she later said she grabbed the pipe and hit the victim’s vehicle because she was trying to defend her sister after things were thrown at them for no reason.

Ga’terica Thompkins has been charged with property damage over $1,000. She has juvenile convictions between 2017 and 2020 and seven adult misdemeanor convictions (one violent). Judge Craig DeThomasis set bail at $1,000.

Itionna Thompkins has been charged with property damage over $1,000 and booked on a warrant for violating probation. She has juvenile convictions between 2013 and 2017, four adult felony convictions (three violent), and seven adult misdemeanor convictions (one violent).

In June 2024, Itionna Thompkins was arrested for punching a relative and threatening her with a knife. She was formally charged with domestic battery and sentenced to a year of probation in August 2024, but she failed to report to her probation officer, provide proof of enrolling into substance abuse and mental health treatment, or submit to random urine testing, and a warrant for her arrest was issued in September 2024. She was arrested on the warrant in February 2025, and in March, Judge Kristine Van Vorst reinstated her probation with day reporting and a new completion date of November 11. Her probation officer reported that she never reported and never called; after the probation officer got an updated phone number from Itionna Thompkins’ mother, Thompkins reportedly promised to report the next day but did not show up and stopped responding to phone calls. A warrant for her arrest was issued in March, and she was arrested on that warrant yesterday.

Judge DeThomasis ordered her held without bail until the probation violation is resolved and set bail at $1,000 on the new charge.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
