Staff report

WALDO, Fla. – Yashica Lushonda Carn, 43, of Starke, was arrested yesterday and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell after 11 pounds of marijuana were reportedly found in her car after a traffic stop.

Carn was pulled over by a Gainesville Police Department officer at about 3 p.m. yesterday in the 15000 block of NE Waldo Road for a lane change violation, weaving through traffic, and illegal window tint.

The officer reported that he could smell a strong odor of marijuana from the car, and Carn reportedly said she had recently smoked marijuana in the car and did not have a medical marijuana card. A search based on the smell of marijuana reportedly produced a black trash bag in the trunk that contained 11 vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana, totaling about 11 pounds (almost 5,000 grams).

Post Miranda, Carn reportedly did not want to answer questions.

Carn has three felony convictions (all violent) and four misdemeanor convictions (one violent). Judge Walter Green set bail at $10,000 with the option for a release on her own recognizance if accepted to Drug Court.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
