A Florida man, in an attempt to “get answers” to undisclosed questions, ended up shooting a woman and subsequently faced the wrath of her husband.

Michael Phillips, 76, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery following the incident on Saturday night, according to a report by Insidelake.com.

The report details that Phillips arrived at the scene shortly after 7 p.m. and engaged in a conversation with Denise Rosa, who was outside putting her dog into a car. Rosa told authorities she had invited Phillips inside to join a card game. After settling her dog, she proceeded to go indoors.

As Rosa entered the house, she reportedly heard Phillips say, “Don’t trust what she says.” When she inquired about his statement, Phillips allegedly insulted her and brandished a firearm.

A struggle ensued, during which Rosa was shot in the forearm. Witnesses quickly alerted her husband, who intervened and overpowered Phillips, managing to disarm him during the altercation.

Both Rosa and Phillips were airlifted to a hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Phillips admitted to deputies taking the gun out of his pocket and saying it just went off. He said he had “questions” and thought using the gun was a legal way for him to “get answers.”

The affidavit does not say what “questions” he had.

Phillips remains behind bars on a $25,000 bond and is due in court on November 10, jail records show.
