US Customs and Border Protection said that Olejniczak drove into Mexico in her own vehicle on the night of the murder, according to KUSI. Baja California officials eventually located her at a hotel in Mexicali on Saturday. After confirming her identity, they handed her over to US Marshals at the Calexico West Port of Entry.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office said she will be booked into jail on a murder charge.

Court records show that Olejniczak pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the death of her estranged husband, James Olejniczak, in the early 2000s.
