An alarming incident in Tennessee has landed a teenager in jail after he allegedly threatened his uncle with a firearm equipped with a 100-round magazine. The confrontation erupted because the uncle was planning to remove the teenager from his home due to accusations of theft.

Kevin Lowery, 18, now faces a string of charges including aggravated assault, domestic assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, and possession of marijuana with intent to sell. The details of these charges were confirmed by the Memphis Police Department, which shared an update through their social media channels.

The situation unfolded when officers responded to reports of an armed individual at a residence on Overton Park Avenue. The victim, Lowery’s uncle, had confronted him over suspicions of theft and informed him of plans to take him to his sister’s house for the night.

In reaction to these accusations, Lowery allegedly drew a handgun from his hip. He then removed the standard magazine and ominously replaced it with a “100-round drum,” escalating the already tense situation. According to police reports, Lowery threatened his uncle, stating, “Once you drop me off, you better drive away quickly because I’m going to start shooting at you.”

“Once you drop me off, you better drive away quickly because I’m going to start shooting at you,” Lowery allegedly said.

The suspect left the apartment and the uncle called cops. Officers spotted Lowery sitting in front of the apartment and when he stood up, a gun and high-capacity magazine fell from his lap, the complaint stated. He also had marijuana on him, per cops.

Police spoke with Lowery’s aunt, to whom he allegedly sent a picture of the gun and said if his uncle did not give him the money to make it back to St. Louis, he would make the victim “lose everything.”

Cops took Lowery into custody. As of Thursday afternoon, he remains in the Shelby County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
