In a shocking road rage episode that unfolded in October, a teenager from Wisconsin brutally assaulted an 81-year-old man, reportedly due to frustration over the senior’s driving speed. The altercation highlights the potential dangers of road rage incidents and the importance of maintaining composure on the road.

The confrontation began when 19-year-old Oliver McSorley started tailgating the elderly driver, dissatisfied with the pace of the vehicle ahead. The older man, responding to the pressure from behind, deliberately slowed down, according to a report by WISN. This prompted McSorley to aggressively overtake him, cutting back in sharply.

As tensions escalated, the elderly driver caught up with McSorley at a traffic light, resulting in a minor collision as he tapped McSorley’s bumper. Both vehicles pulled over, leading to a heated exchange. During this confrontation, the older man pushed McSorley, who retaliated by violently knocking the man to the ground. The situation only de-escalated when concerned bystanders intervened.

After the incident, McSorley drove away but later surrendered to the authorities. While in custody, he had a conversation with his mother that was recorded, in which he expressed regret not that he had attacked, but that he had not inflicted more harm. In the call, he stated, “I should have beaten the s*** out of him … he is lucky he only has a concussion,” as noted by The Freeman. McSorley further remarked, “I could’ve literally beat him to an inch of his life.”

Such incidents serve as a reminder of how quickly emotions can escalate on the road, emphasizing the need for patience and restraint amongst drivers of all ages.

The victim had blood coming from both ears and an eye, numerous cuts and bruises, and a concussion.

McSorley’s only criminal record was a traffic fine in March for driving 106 mph.

He was charged on Tuesday with a felony count of battery to an elderly person and ordered back in court on February 5 after he was released, WISN reported.
