A Georgia teen has turned herself in for the murders of her mother and stepfather.
On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office announced in a press conference that 17-year-old Sarah Grace Patrick has been charged in connection with the February 2025 deaths of her mother, Kristin Brock, 41, and stepfather, James Brock, 45. She’s facing two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault.
The murders shocked those who live in Tyus, a small town just outside of Carrollton, Georgia, and sparked an investigation that involved the FBI, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab, and private forensic laboratories, per the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.
While investigators have concluded that Patrick is responsible for the killings, a motive remains unclear. “We don’t know what goes through the mind of a child who wants to harm their parents,” said Ashley Hulsey, a spokesperson for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.
The case remains active and ongoing, and investigators ask anyone with information to come forward.
What happened to James and Kristin Brock?
On Feb. 20, 2025, Carroll County Sheriff’s Officers responded to a 911 call in which Patrick reported that her 5-year-old sister had found James and Kristin Brock shot to death in their beds.
There were no apparent signs of a break-in, though a door was left ajar, according to Fox 5 News.
In the wake of the killings, Kristin Brock’s father, Dennis Nolan, told 11 Alive that the family was dumbfounded as to why the couple, known for being active churchgoers, would be murdered.
“If there was something they wanted in the house, they could have taken it, and they probably wouldn’t have woken up, but for some reason, they wanted them dead, and I want to know why,” he said.
“Mountains of evidence” against Sarah Grace Patrick
Hulsey declined to share specifics about the investigation, but stated there are “mountains of evidence” that indicate Patrick is responsible for the killings.
“We feel confident that she is responsible for their murders, but like I said, it is an active and ongoing investigation and it’s very possible that others are involved, as well,” Hulsey said.
As for what led to Patrick’s arrest, Hulsey said that investigators notified the teen they had a warrant out for her arrest, shortly after which the 17-year-old, accompanied by her father, went to the station and turned herself in.
