GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In a disturbing development, 15-year-old De’Marion Terrell Robinson faces adult charges for conspiring to commit second-degree murder after a gang-related shooting incident at The Grove at Sweetwater Preserve on March 16.
On that evening around 8 p.m., officers from the Gainesville Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at The Grove (125 SE 19th Place). Upon arrival, they discovered approximately 22 shell casings from a rifle (.223/.556) and a 9mm pistol scattered in front of a building. Investigations revealed that bullets had struck three apartments and two vehicles, narrowly missing adults and young children inside the residences. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Surveillance footage captured a white sedan entering the vicinity just before the gunfire erupted and then speeding away from the scene immediately afterward.
Prior arrests in connection with this incident include Laron Detron Murphy, 18, Jordan Tyreek Welch, 19, as well as Malachi Ahmad Rosario, 18, and Johntavious Reshard Peterson, 16, who face similar charges.
One of the other co-defendants identified Robinson as one of the people who had gone to The Grove in the white sedan.
A Gainesville Police Department Detective reported that there is evidence that the shooting was gang-related and that the co-defendants, who are reportedly “South” gang members, targeted a group of people who are “Bricks” gang members.
Post Miranda, Robinson reportedly admitted that he had been a passenger in the stolen white sedan but denied having any involvement in the shooting incident.
Robinson has been charged with conspiracy to commit second-degree murder. He has juvenile convictions in 2024 and 2025, and Judge David Kreider ordered him held without bail until trial.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
