The lifeless body of a 20-year-old woman from Tennessee, discovered wrapped in blankets in northern Georgia, has been identified, shedding light on a tragic incident.
Authorities with the Rome Police Department revealed that the deceased, Kaylee B. Shackelford, hailed from Powell, near Knoxville. Her body was found on Tuesday afternoon. Shackelford was reportedly involved with Mystique Malachi Amaziah Taylor, a 23-year-old who is one of two individuals apprehended in relation to her death.
Investigators suspect that Taylor had initiated an online relationship with Rolanda Monique Edwards, aged 25, who also faces charges linked to the crime.
Witnesses in the area recalled spotting a red car shortly before Shackelford’s body was discovered. This vehicle was later tracked down and intercepted in Bartow County following a brief pursuit.
According to an earlier report by CrimeOnline, Taylor faces several charges, including murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and multiple traffic violations related to his capture. Meanwhile, Edwards has been charged with being a party to a crime, concealing the death of another, and obstructing the apprehension of a suspect.
Both are being held without bond in the Floyd County jail.
Taylor also had an arrest warrant in nearby Cobb County for a string of crimes on November 1. Court records say he tried to hit a woman with his car, then grabbed her by the hair and pulled her into the car. The two got into a verbal and physical fight at a nearby gas station, where he took her car keys and left the scene when he learned police were en route. It’s unknown if that person was Shackelford.
“This remains an active and ongoing investigation, and additional charges may follow,” Rome police said.
