A 22-year-old Wyoming woman is currently facing serious legal trouble after allegedly assaulting her 24-year-old husband with a knife on two separate occasions in one night, reportedly under the influence of tequila.
Elizabeth Deore was arrested last month and has been charged with several felonies, including two counts of felonious restraint and one count of aggravated assault, alongside a misdemeanor charge of domestic assault. According to the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call at approximately 11:39 p.m. on October 15. The incident took place at the couple’s home in Wright, a small town roughly 200 miles north of Cheyenne. The Gillette News Record reported that the caller claimed Deore was pursuing her husband through their residence while wielding a knife.
According to a male caller, who contacted the authorities, Deore continued to hold a knife and had trapped her husband against a wall, striking him multiple times with her free hand, as reported by local news outlet County 17 reported.
Just eight minutes into the emergency call, the caller reported hearing Deore threaten, “You’ll be f—ing dead.”
Upon arrival at the scene, deputies found the husband, who appeared physically unharmed, sitting in the living room, and noticed a kitchen knife lying on the floor nearby. Deore was found in the bedroom, seemingly intoxicated but not injured.
A couple who live nearby and were at the home during the incident told authorities that Deore had just found out that her husband had been communicating with another local woman, per the News Record.
The other couple reportedly said that they had all been hanging out together that evening and Deore had been drinking tequila. At some point, they said she went into a “rage” and sent her husband out of the house with the other man. She then reportedly cut up her husband’s ID cards before dousing his clothing in bleach.
When the husband returned, their fight continued to escalate until Deore allegedly grabbed a fillet knife and chased her husband around, slashing with the knife while threatening to kill him.
When her husband locked himself in the bathroom, Deore allegedly responded by yelling, “I’m going to kill you motherf—er,” and stabbing the door until she bent the fillet knife. That’s when the neighbors said Deore went back to the kitchen and picked up a butcher’s knife, which she allegedly used to chase her husband around after he exited the bathroom.
The altercation reportedly ended when Deore fell to the floor. Her husband said she was “overheating” and he brought her to the bathroom and put her in a cold shower. She was later taken to the hospital where medical personnel said she likely had suffered an epileptic seizure due to her body temperature.
After being medically cleared, Deore was placed under arrest and processed at the Campbell County Detention Center.
Inside the home, investigators reportedly noted that sections of the bathroom door had been repeatedly slashed and stabbed with what appeared to be a knife.
Despite the allegations against Deore, her husband reportedly wrote a letter to the court claiming that she did nothing wrong and the witnesses were not even inside of the home during the alleged attack.
“She is an amazing mother and a better wife,” he wrote, the News Record reported. “She might [have] a short fuse but she has never done anything like this before.”
It was not immediately clear if Deore was still in detention or when she was scheduled to appear in court again.
