A man in New York has been sentenced to over ten years in prison for stabbing the mother of his children, following a conviction by a jury.
Albaro Chacon, aged 38, was found guilty on November 19, 2025, for attempted assault, assault, tampering with evidence, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced that Chacon was arrested in November 2024 after his partner and the mother of his two children called 911. She reported that Chacon had attacked her in their Brentwood, New York home. More details can be found in the official press release.
The District Attorney shared that on the night of the incident, the woman awoke to find Chacon standing over her with a knife, threatening her life by saying, “You are going to die here.”
In a desperate struggle, the woman fought off Chacon, sustaining stab wounds to her arms as she deflected the knife away from her chest. Her 2-year-old niece was also in the room at the time, and she attempted to shield both herself and the child from harm.
Eventually, the woman managed to escape and flagged down a passing driver to call 911. As she fled, she noticed her two children, a 6-year-old son and a 5-year-old daughter, in a car parked outside. She suspected that Chacon had placed them there before the attack. Chacon chased after her, and their son exited the car, pleading with his father to stop the assault. Chacon then retreated inside.
While the woman waited for police to arrive, Chacon was attempting to clean up the bloody mess he caused. When she went back inside the house to escape Chacon again, she noticed that the home “smelled of bleach,” and the sheets from the bed where Chacon stabbed her had been removed.
Police arrived and placed Chacon under arrest. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
On Monday, a judge sentenced Chacon to 15 to 17 years in prison.
