Last week, a woman from Texas faced arrest after her 11-year-old autistic son was discovered in a distressing state, suffering from severe malnutrition and injuries consistent with abuse.

In May, authorities from Baytown revealed that Rachel Baylock’s son had been found isolated in a locked room, even though several others resided in the same mobile home. Alarmingly, the boy weighed a mere 46 pounds and was in a terribly neglected condition, with decaying teeth and his body covered in dried feces, as reported by KTRK.

Medical professionals noted that upon hospitalization, the young boy had feces not only on his teeth but also in his ears and under his nails, painting a grim picture of his living conditions.

Investigators were struck by the overpowering odor of feces and other bodily fluids permeating Baylock’s residence. Baylock, aged 41, reportedly explained that her nonverbal son, who was unable to manage bathroom needs independently, would often smear feces around his room.

As detailed by the Baytown Sun, a Child Protection Services investigator instructed a police officer to inform Baylock of her son’s urgent need for medical attention. However, Baylock’s alleged response was dismissive and coarse, stating, “I can’t just drop everything I’m f**king doing and take him to the hospital so a quack a** doctor can say, ‘Ohh I don’t know what’s wrong with him,’ so we can see another one.”

Baylock admitted to replacing her son’s door with a screen door she kept locked because he would flee the home naked.  Meanwhile, the boy’s grandmother — who described Baylock as “not a very good mom” — managed to unlock the door a couple of times to give him food and water, the Baytown Sun reported.

baytown police arrested Baylock on October 7. She allegedly told arresting officers that a cylindrical container on her belt loop contained her “baby daddy’s ashes.” However, testing concluded it was crystal meth, according to KTRK.

Baylock is charged with injury to a child and possession of methamphetamine. Her bond was set at $250,000.

Reports indicated that the 11-year-old boy is in foster care.
