A California man is behind bars after police say he killed a Fremont pedophile, then claimed that sex offenders “deserve to die.”

According to the Fremont Police Department, 29-year-old Varun Suresh is facing a capital murder charge for the death of David Brimmer, 71.

Shortly before noon on Thursday, police were called to the 600 block of Upper Vintners Circle in Fremont, following an altercation between the suspect and Brimmer.

Brimmer, found with “significant stab wounds,” was pronounced dead at the scene.

During an interview with investigators, Suresh allegedly said he sought out sex offenders purposely because “they hurt children.”

Court documents obtained by FOX 2 stated that when investigators searched Suresh’s phone, they found numerous screenshots of names and addresses of sex offenders listed on Megan’s Law website.

Suresh reportedly said he didn’t personally know Brimmer, and knocked on his door while a posing as a “CPA going door-to-door looking for new clients.”

Suresh initially made small talk with Brimmer and asked him to confirm his identity, while trying “to appear as non-threatening as possible.”

After shaking hands, Brimmer confirmed his name, according to court documents.

Suresh then tried to force his way into the home, prompting Brimmer to run. Suresh allegedly gave chase, while asking Brimmer if he “believes in God.”

Brimmer reached a neighbor’s garage and starting pounding on the garage door, then ran into the home and made his way to the kitchen.

Suresh, according to court documents, caught up with Brimmer and, armed with a knife, started stabbing him.

“It’s over, you have to repent,” Suresh reportedly said.

Suresh said a witness inside the residence asked him “not to do this in here.”

The defendant said he thought about stopping the altercation at the uninvolved resident’s request, but decided to go through with the stabbing.

Brimmer managed to escape, but reportedly collapsed outside, likely due to blood loss. Suresh followed him and slashed his neck.

“I just wanted to make sure it was done,” Suresh told investigators, later adding that he “wasn’t planning on getting away with it.”

“I’m hoping that because [Brimmer] a pedophile… like, everyone hates pedophiles… so like, it should be cool. It should be cool,” he said.

Court records indicate that Brimmer was convicted of lewd and lascivious acts with a child in 1995 and released from prison a decade later.

A December 1992 report by the San Francisco Chronicle listed Brimmer as a former youth counselor and the pastor’s senior assistant for the “largest fundamentalist Christian church in San Jose.”

Brimmer and another former youth pastor, Pablo Boas, were arrested in 1992 for sexually assaulting four boys.

Suresh remains behind bars without bail.
