Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Jonathan Olushola Amao Webb, 20, of Fort White; Dion Lee Rivera, Jr., 19, of Lake City; and Ciara Katrina Shepard, 18, of Gainesville, were arrested early this morning after allegedly breaking a window at BLVD Gainesville (4000 SW 37th Blvd), then handing stolen items out the window.

At about 7:40 p.m. on Friday night, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to the apartment complex, where Rivera allegedly broke a bedroom window in an apartment and entered the apartment while Amao Webb and Shepard stood outside the window. Rivera allegedly began handing items from the bedroom out the window to the other two, and Amao Webb allegedly took the items to his vehicle, parked nearby.

Rivera also allegedly smashed a full-length mirror in the bedroom; the damage to the bedroom and window was estimated at $1,500.

The officer reported finding a television, valued at about $300, leaning against the building near the broken window, and the resident of the apartment told the officer he saw Rivera and Amao Webb carrying clothing to a vehicle.

A second witness reportedly saw Amao Webb and Shepard standing outside the window, and a third witness reportedly saw Rivera handing items through the broken window to Amao Webb and Shepard.

An officer saw Rivera and ordered him to stop, but he allegedly fled on foot. He was later located and arrested in the same apartment complex.

Post Miranda, Rivera reportedly declined to answer questions.

Post Miranda, Amao Webb reportedly said Rivera told him and Shepard, “Let’s go to this apartment and get an Xbox and clothes that I left at my apartment.” However, Amao Webb said, the resident of the apartment told Rivera that he had never lived at that apartment, then Rivera got upset with the resident because he wouldn’t let him in, went to the back of the apartment, and broke the window.

Shepard was stopped and arrested at the scene; a search incident to arrest reportedly produced a pair of work gloves. Post Miranda, she reportedly declined to answer questions.

Amao Webb has no adult criminal history in Alachua County except for a 2022 traffic ticket; he was charged with burglary of an occupied structure and appears to have already been released from the jail.

Rivera has been charged with burglary of an occupied structure, property damage over $200, and resisting an officer without violence. He has no adult criminal history in Alachua County or Columbia County, and Judge Sean Brewer set bail at $16,000.

Shepard has been charged with burglary of an occupied structure and possession of burglary tools; she has no adult criminal history in Alachua County, and her bail has not yet been set.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
