A mother from Indiana faces serious charges following a tragic investigation into the death of her infant son. Authorities report that her decision to forego seizure medication played a crucial role in the incident.

Chantel Cunningham, age 24, now faces accusations of murder and neglect leading to the death of her five-month-old son, Greyson. Sources from court documents, as reported by CBS affiliate WSBT, reveal that on April 6, Cunningham was alone at their Shipshewana home when she suffered a seizure-induced fall. It is alleged that she dropped Greyson during the episode and subsequently landed on him, resulting in fatal injuries.

Investigation by police uncovered that Cunningham had reportedly discontinued her seizure medication months prior to her son’s untimely death.

Cunningham was taken into custody on Wednesday and incarcerated at the LaGrange County Jail. She awaited her initial court appearance on Thursday, though the date for her subsequent court proceedings has not yet been disclosed to the public.
