On Friday, rapper Lil Jon confirmed the tragic passing of his son, following reports that he had gone missing earlier in the week in Georgia.
In a heartfelt statement to USA Today, Lil Jon expressed profound grief alongside the mother of his son, Nathan Smith, over the untimely loss. Nathan, aged 27, had been reported missing on February 3 in Milton. Subsequently, local authorities, with assistance from Cherokee County Fire divers, discovered a body in a pond on Friday.
According to WXIA, Nathan, also known in the music world as DJ Young Slade, had fled from his residence on February 3. The home’s proximity to a pond initially guided police search efforts before they expanded their search area. Although specifics surrounding Nathan’s disappearance remain unclear, police suggest he might have been experiencing disorientation.
Lil Jon, in a statement provided to TMZ, described his son as “the kindest human being you would ever meet.” He shared that Nathan was incredibly caring, thoughtful, and passionate, with a warm heart that embraced family and friends deeply.
The Milton police have stated that they do not suspect foul play in Nathan Smith’s death. Meanwhile, the Fulton County Medical Examiner is working to determine the official cause of death.
