A man from Texas has been charged with two counts of capital murder after police reported that he shot and killed two brothers in his neighborhood.
Daniel Antonio Perez, aged 40, is currently being detained on a bond of $2.3 million. He was arrested for allegedly murdering 20-year-old Dravyn Quiroz and his 11-year-old brother, Maliki Perales, on a Tuesday evening. Speaking at a press conference held on Wednesday, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar revealed that the brothers were at their San Antonio home, preparing to back a car out of their driveway around 7:30 p.m., when Perez reportedly exited his house across the street and began shooting.
According to Salazar, authorities later discovered that Perez had also aimed and fired at the victims’ two teenage siblings but failed to hit them.
During the press conference, Salazar commented, “While it’s evident there’s a mental health crisis involved, he nonetheless exhibited the awareness and guilty mental state required to hide the weapon and himself effectively.”
Perez was charged with two counts of capital murder and four counts of aggravated assault. His next court date was scheduled for Nov. 3.
