A Michigan man faces a lifetime in prison after he fatally shot his former girlfriend at her place of employment, witnessed by their 10-year-old child.
Gregory Keyier-Deniro Davis, aged 46, received a life sentence without parole on May 11 for the killing of 40-year-old Annie Namou, as confirmed by the Oakland County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in a statement shared with People.
In April, a jury convicted Davis on several charges, including first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a felon, four counts of felony-firearm, felony assault, and assault with intent to inflict great bodily harm, all connected to the 2023 incident.
Following the verdict, Oakland County Prosecuting Attorney Karen McDonald expressed gratitude to the jury, stating, “Their decision delivers justice for Annie Namou and her family.” She emphasized the ongoing threat intimate partners can pose to women and children, like Annie, and vowed to continue advocating for victims of such violence.
Namou lost her life on May 20, 2023, in the parking area of a car dealership in Royal Oak Township, where she was employed, according to a previous announcement from the prosecutors.

Authorities said Davis followed Namou into the parking lot then used his vehicle to block her vehicle.
“The victim exited her vehicle to get help and Davis shot her as she was running away and then shot her again at close range with a 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun,” prosecutors said. “Their 10-year-old child witnessed the shooting from the passenger seat of the victim’s vehicle.”
After the fatal shots, Davis pointed the weapon at others in the parking lot and fired—although prosecutors reported no other injuries.
Davis surrendered to police later that same day and was arrested.
“This is a horrific and tragic incident,” McDonald said after the arrest. “Every month an average of 70 women are shot and killed by an intimate partner in this country. This event occurred in a place of business where other employees were just a few feet away.”
