A woman who traveled across multiple states before allegedly causing a fatal accident in Indiana is now in custody in Florida.

Authorities in Sarasota County arrested 31-year-old Adria Wilkerson on Tuesday. She faces charges related to a deadly collision that took the life of 45-year-old Vicki Colley. As detailed in court documents obtained by WXIN, a Fox affiliate, Indiana’s Grant County issued an arrest warrant for Wilkerson. She is accused of hitting Colley’s vehicle head-on with her black BMW after a reckless drive that involved crashing through a farmer’s fence and ending up in a cow pasture.

Wilkerson reportedly returned to the road and collided with Colley’s Chevrolet, trapping Colley inside and inflicting fatal injuries.

Police trace Wilkerson’s journey back to Corinth, New York, where she allegedly left her child behind. Her family informed officers that she had a history of “suicidal ideology,” though the reasons for abandoning her child remain unclear.

After departing New York, Wilkerson is believed to have traveled westward through Indiana. On October 1, 2025, around 4 p.m., police responded to reports of a black BMW driving erratically near Oak Hill High School in Converse, Indiana. According to court documents, these reports, which led authorities to Wilkerson’s vehicle, began 18 minutes before the crash was officially reported.

When police arrived at the scene, they found Wilkerson’s BMW on fire. Wilkerson was able to get out of her car with assistance and was taken by helicopter to the hospital with “serious” injuries. Colley was removed from her car after being trapped inside, but died at the hospital. Her death was initially ruled an accident.

Once police got a clearer picture of how Wilkerson was apparently driving before her vehicle allegedly struck Colley’s, they began investigating Wilkerson. An arrest warrant was issued for Wilkerson on Feb. 13, charging her with reckless homicide and reckless driving.

Authorities in Sarasota County announced that Wilkerson was located in Venice, Florida, and was arrested by deputies on Tuesday. She is being held in the Sarasota County Jail until she is extradited to Indiana to face charges.
