This week, a tragic incident unfolded in Lynwood, California, as authorities discovered the body of a 7-year-old boy inside a freezer at his family’s apartment. The grim discovery led to the arrest of the child’s parents and grandmother.
Law enforcement officials responded to the apartment on Tuesday night following a report concerning a deceased child, according to KABC. Upon conducting a welfare check, deputies found the boy’s body in the freezer.
Destiny Harrison, the child’s 25-year-old mother, faces murder charges. Meanwhile, the boy’s father, 25-year-old Daniel Monzon, and his grandmother, 46-year-old Ana Zarceno-Caramo, have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
The duration of the boy’s death remains unclear, as investigators have yet to determine the cause. The authorities also removed three other children from the residence, aged 16, 13, and 9 months, placing them under the care of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported that there had been no previous service calls to the apartment, as noted by KCBS.
The suspects are being held on bails of $2 million each. No further information was released.
