In a tragic turn of events, an Arkansas mother who was in the process of divorcing her husband, previously arrested for domestic violence, has been discovered deceased alongside her two children.
The Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) reported receiving a call for a welfare check at a residence in Bonanza on Wednesday. Responding to the call, deputies and Bonanza police arrived at the address on the 1100 block of 1st Avenue at about 9:30 a.m.
Upon entering the home, authorities found 40-year-old Charity Beallis and her two children, all suffering from gunshot wounds. Tragically, all three were pronounced dead at the scene, as confirmed by the SCSO statement.
The bodies have been sent to the Arkansas Crime Lab for autopsies to officially determine the causes of death.
Charity Beallis had initiated divorce proceedings against her husband, Dr. Randall Beallis, in March. This filing followed Dr. Beallis’s arrest for allegedly strangling Charity, an incident that reportedly occurred in the presence of her children, as detailed by 5NEWS.
5NEWS confirmed that on Tuesday, the estranged couple’s final divorce hearing was held at the Sebastian County Courthouse in Fort Smith.
On Thursday, Dr. Beallis’s attorney filed a motion to dismiss the divorce case.
Charity was reportedly fighting for full custody of the couple’s twins, based on Dr. Beallis’s arrest for aggravated assault on a family member, third-degree domestic battery, and two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.
Dr. Beallis reached an agreement and pleaded guilty to third-degree battery on October 9, 2025.
Charity told Senator Rice earlier this year that she feared for her and her children’s lives, 5NEWS reported.
KNWA reported that Randy Powell, Charity’s father, reportedly was told by his daughter that she knew her ex-husband was going to kill her.
Randy Powell believes his daughter’s murder was for Dr. Beallis’s financial gain, and that is why he filed for the divorce dismissal. If Dr. Beallis is granted the dismissal, he would get all that Charity won in the divorce.
Randy Powell is facing a mixture of emotions over the deaths.
“One moment I’ll be crying, and the next minute I’m mad. I don’t even know how to explain it,” Powell said. “I never expected to ever have to go through something like this in my life.”
Both Randy Powell and Charity’s older son, John Powell, 24, expressed the love Charity had for her children and knew that she fought.
“My mother fought for nine months, the last nine months, to save her life and those babies, and nothing happened,” John Powell said. “Now all three of them are dead.”
