Tragedy struck when a six-month-old boy from Georgia, whose father claimed he was abducted during an armed robbery, was discovered deceased.
The Clayton County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that the body of young Nnakai Pratt was found on Tuesday inside a dumpster near the Riverdale apartment complex. This location is the same one where his father had initially reported the child missing on Sunday, according to WANF.
The 38-year-old father, Antonio Pearce, was taken into custody later that same day on unrelated charges, as detailed by CrimeOnline. Authorities in Clayton County expressed skepticism over Pearce’s account of the armed robbery, describing it as “highly questionable.”
Pearce is currently being held without bail, facing charges that include marijuana possession, failing to properly restrain a child in a vehicle, and operating a vehicle with a suspended license. While he has not been formally charged in connection with his son’s disappearance and death, investigators have identified him as a suspect.
According to WXIA, Pearce is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday concerning these charges. Jail records also reveal that he is facing an additional charge for making a false statement.
