A missing man from Georgia has been found dead in Bartow County, authorities confirmed.

The Canton Police Department has identified the deceased individual as James “Greg” Powell, a 61-year-old resident of Canton.

Earlier reports from CrimeOnline stated that Powell left his home in Cherokee County on November 2 around 9:09 a.m., accompanied by his dog, Ally. His vehicle was later discovered near the River Green Tennis Courts in Canton.

Powell had reportedly taken Ally to a sitter but did not return home afterward.

His body was eventually found in the Red Top Mountain region of Bartow County. The Canton Police Department worked alongside Bartow County authorities to confirm his identity.

So far, there is no indication of foul play and the cause and manner of death are pending, police said.

The Bartow County Coroner’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) will help determine how he died.

The story is developing. Check back for updates.
