In a chilling turn of events, authorities in New York have launched a thorough investigation following the gruesome discovery of a dismembered body in a Brooklyn apartment’s basement this past Sunday. The body, identified as that of 39-year-old Michelle Montgomery, was found in a plastic bag within the building’s trash compactor, a location typically secured and off-limits to residents.

According to the New York Daily News, it was workers at the apartment who stumbled upon the horrific scene. The circumstances surrounding Montgomery’s death remain under scrutiny as law enforcement treats the case as a murder investigation. The precise cause of her death has yet to be determined, pending further analysis from the New York City medical examiner’s office, which has already performed an autopsy.

In a conversation with the New York Post, Montgomery’s husband shared that she had gone out with friends on the Saturday prior to her death, an unusual occurrence given her usual devotion to their three children. “She said she was just going out with friends,” he recounted, adding that he was unfamiliar with the company she was keeping that night.

As investigators piece together the events leading to this tragic incident, the local community remains on edge, hoping for swift justice and answers in the wake of Montgomery’s untimely and violent demise.

“She said she was just going out with friends,” the husband said. “I didn’t know them.”

It is unknown whether Montgomery had any connection to the apartment building where her body was found on Sunday. The New York Post reported, however, that it was located less than four miles from her home.

No arrests have been made.
