A tragic incident unfolded in Tennessee where a mother reportedly killed her two sons and her elderly grandmother before taking her own life, according to local authorities.
The Humphreys County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for a welfare check on Friday at a residence on East Little Richland Road in Waverly, located approximately 75 miles west of Nashville. Upon arrival, deputies discovered four deceased individuals inside the home.
At a press conference, Sheriff Chris Davis revealed preliminary findings indicating that 32-year-old Heather Thompson fatally shot her sons, 13-year-old Isaiah Thompson and 4-year-old Arius Thompson, as well as her grandmother, 88-year-old Evelyn Thompson. Following these tragic events, Heather Thompson reportedly turned the gun on herself.
“I know the family,” Sheriff Davis shared with reporters, as reported by ABC affiliate WKRN. “We are committed to honoring them and treating their memory with the utmost respect.”
While the motive remains unclear, Davis mentioned that Heather Thompson had been estranged from the father of her sons, Isaiah and Arius.
The father, Biah Thompson, commented on the sheriff’s office’s post about the incident.
“I miss my sons already,” he wrote. “Daddy still loves you. Sorry I was at work.”
In a Facebook post where he asked for funds to pay for funeral expenses, he said he received a call Friday morning he “wouldn’t wish on any other parent.”
“As a father it hurt and shattered my soul to hear my sons, Arius (Ari) and Isaiah have been taken from me and are no longer with us. They were just babies. Every second of today I wish I could just wake up.”
Davis said deputies have not responded to the home for domestic or mental health-related calls prior to Friday.
Heather Thompson worked as a nurse practitioner at a local hospital, the New York Post reported.
