On Monday afternoon in Florida, a shooting incident inside an office building left two individuals dead. The alleged shooter was later involved in a police chase that ended in a car crash, where authorities discovered the suspect had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Boynton Beach Police Department reported that they responded to the scene around 4 p.m. Upon arrival, officers encountered two victims who had succumbed to gunshot injuries. As a precautionary measure, nearby schools and businesses were placed on lockdown.
Quickly identifying the suspect, police received a tip-off about a “suspicious vehicle” resembling the suspect’s getaway car.
Officers tracked down this vehicle and attempted to execute a “high-risk traffic stop,” but the suspect fled, prompting a pursuit that ultimately ended in a collision.
Following the crash, police found the suspect deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, as confirmed by the authorities.
After the suspect was found dead, lockdowns were lifted.
Police provided no further information about the victims, suspect, or the incident itself.
“The investigation is still ongoing; however, we do know both the suspect and the victims knew each other,” said Boynton Beach Police Chief Joe DeGiulio, according to WPBF.
DeGiulio said that investigators believe the suspect shot himself while he was driving and crashed after the shot.
