A tragic incident unfolded in St. Louis, Missouri, where a 14-year-old boy was fatally struck by a stray bullet while he was playing video games in the safety of his own bedroom. The heartbreaking event highlights the indiscriminate nature of gun violence impacting innocent lives.

Authorities from the St. Louis County Police Department responded to the scene following a 911 call shortly after 6 p.m. on Wednesday. The call reported a shooting in the 10200 block of Hobkirk Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered the young victim, Duwan Morgan, who had succumbed to at least one gunshot wound.

“A senseless shootout led to a stray bullet entering my home, striking my beloved son Duwan Morgan, who was only 14 years old,” his mother, Keshia Morgan, wrote in a GoFundMe description. “Duwan was a vibrant, caring young man with a bright future ahead of him. This loss has left an indescribable void in our lives.”

As of now, the authorities have not made any arrests, leaving the community seeking answers and justice for the untimely loss of a promising young life.

Duwan”s aunt Erica Davis told local NBC affiliate KDSK that it is her understanding that two groups of teens got into an argument when at least one of them took out a gun and fired. At least one of the bullets entered Duwan’s bedroom, striking and killing him as he played video games.

“He was minding his business, doing nothing,” she told the TV station. “Just sitting in his room. And now he’s gone.”

The boy’s mom and two brothers were inside the home but were not hit.

Davis recalled how her nephew was excited to be entering high school.

“He was a beautiful, nice kid,” Davis said.

Duwan’s family wants justice and is urging people who know what happened to come forward.

“My family will never be the same,” Davis told KDSK. “He didn’t deserve to lose his life like this.”
