Authorities in South Carolina are actively seeking the individual responsible for a tragic incident in a Spartanburg County parking lot, where a 31-year-old mother lost her life after being hit and dragged by a vehicle.
The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene on the morning of January 7, where they discovered Dané Josephine Waddell had died.
“It’s evident from the evidence that she was struck and dragged by a vehicle,” Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger shared with the Post and Courier.
Through surveillance footage, deputies have managed to identify the type of vehicle involved in the incident, though it remains at large and they have not disclosed specific details about the car, as reported by WHNS.
Waddell’s family revealed that she became a mother to a baby girl in October. Her aunt, Sheina Waddell, has urged the driver to contact law enforcement and take responsibility.
“How would they feel about the impact of this happening to their family?” she told the Post and Coureir. “What would they feel like? Would they want (the driver) to come forward for peace of mind for the family and justice for the family?”
