A tragic incident unfolded at Skyline Chili, where a server lost her life in a fatal stabbing while on duty.
Alyssa “Ally” Hill, aged 27, was killed on June 2 while working at a restaurant in Ohio. The Norwood Police Department confirmed the devastating event, which left the mother of two dead following an attack during her shift.
Authorities have taken Hill’s former partner, Rick Wright, into custody in connection with the crime. Court documents, accessed by Oxygen, reveal that Wright is facing four charges, including aggravated murder.
During a court appearance on June 5, Wright’s bail was determined to be $1 million, as reported by a representative from the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s office to Oxygen.
According to WLWT, the 37-year-old defendant has entered a plea of not guilty.
Hamilton County prosecutors alleged that Wright entered the restaurant during a lunch rush and Hill had requested someone else wait on him, per the outlet. After several minutes, Wright allegedly used a large knife to stab Hill in the chest then in the back as she turned to flee.
An attorney for Wright could not immediately be located for comment by Oxygen.
Wright was chased out of the Skyline by several patrons after the alleged attack, according to WLWT, and later arrested at a nearby bank.
“I will not say what the inculpatory statements were, but he was very proud of his actions,” a prosecutor said June 5, per the outlet. “He was smiling, waving to cameras as he was taken in by Norwood police. He’s a real danger, a real threat.”
In the aftermath, Hill’s employers have pledged to assist her family, including her daughter Jayda and son Colson.
“Skyline Chili is devastated by the loss of its long-time server,” the restaurant chain shared in a June 4 statement on Instagram. “The Norwood Skyline, owned by the Misleh family, will donate 20 percent of the restaurant’s sales for the week of June 8 – 15 to an established fund that will directly benefit Ally’s two children.”
A friend remembered her as a “bright light in the world,” writing on a GoFundMe page, “Many knew her as a fierce, loving friend, a hardworking & devoted mom, and above all, someone who was kind to others and who loved everyone she knew unconditionally.”
Local law enforcement is also showing their support for Hill’s loved ones.
“Many of the officers had the great honor to be served by Ally at Skyline for quite some time, and they are graciously looking to pay it forward in some way,” the GoFundMe page shared in a June 3 update. “In Ally’s honor, they intend on hosting an event at Cappy’s in Norwood on Saturday, June 20th, with all proceeds going to her family during this time.”
Wright has previously been convicted of drug trafficking and drug possession, according to court records. He had an active warrant for arrest since Dec. 17, according to Fox 19, after he failed to report to his probation officer and did not comply with court-ordered mental health treatment.
