A tragic incident unfolded in the early hours of March 7 in downtown Los Angeles, where a man reportedly severed his own penis, leading to his death. The Los Angeles Fire Department was alerted to the scene at 3:28 a.m. on Figueroa Street, a bustling area near the Crypto.com Arena and the Los Angeles Convention Center. Despite their efforts, the paramedics found the victim, believed to be around 35 years old, already deceased due to severe bleeding.

Following the grim discovery, the investigation was handed over to the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. The fire department spokesperson confirmed the transition of the case, noting that no further details could be shared from their side regarding the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

According to reports from US Weekly, the man was found unresponsive on a sidewalk in front of a business driveway, having succumbed to his injuries. Further insights from law enforcement, as reported by TMZ, revealed that the unidentified individual had inflicted additional harm upon himself by attempting to cut his throat and stab himself with a sharp object. There are also indications that he tried to sever his arm.

As investigators work to piece together the motives behind this disturbing act, an autopsy has been commissioned to determine whether substance use may have been a contributing factor in the man’s death. The community remains in shock as they await further updates from the authorities.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that the man—who has not yet been identified—cut his throat and stabbed himself with a sharp instrument. The outlet noted, per law enforcement sources, that he tried to cut off his arm. A motive is still unknown, per Us Weekly, though an autopsy is underway to determine whether drugs played any role in the man’s death.

A video published on the Instagram account of OnScene.TV shows a white tent on the sidewalk and another blurred-out image of a body lying on the ground. Other scenes depict blood and discarded clothing littering a sidewalk near where the man lay.

Spokespeople from the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Oxygen.
