In a harrowing sequence of events in Texas, a man reportedly opened fire on five individuals, resulting in three fatalities, before crashing his Dodge Caravan into a Buc-ee’s convenience store. Inside the store, he struck a woman, pinning her against a display, and then attempted to end his own life with a gunshot, according to law enforcement.

Christopher Reid Jr., 29, survived the self-inflicted gunshot wound and is currently receiving medical care following the violent incident at a Buc-ee’s location in Ennis around 5 a.m. on Friday, as reported by ABC affiliate WFAA.

Prior to this, Reid is accused of fatally shooting three individuals and injuring two others at a residence in Mabank shortly before 2:30 a.m. He then allegedly fled to the convenience store in his 2003 Caravan. Authorities have yet to disclose any motive behind the shootings.

A nearby resident recounted the traumatic aftermath to WFAA, describing how her property became a refuge for one of Reid’s victims. The victim, in distress and bleeding, sought help at her home.

“He knocked on the door urgently,” shared Cheryl Noble, a neighbor. “He was pleading, ‘Help me, I’ve been shot.’ He mentioned that his brother was the one who shot him.”

Investigators have not confirmed whether Reid targeted family members, but they have identified the deceased as Kimberly Simpson, 51, Connie Patrick, 72, and Ronny Hammonds, 57. They each suffered gunshot wounds, while Hammonds was also a victim of blunt force trauma and multiple stab wounds, cops say.

Two others who were shot and hospitalized were identified as Colton Reid, 24, and Henry Hopgood, 70. Their conditions were unknown as of Sunday evening.

Police say Reid shot the group at a home located off Taso Drive in the Cedar Creek subdivision in Mabank before fleeing in the minivan. The woman he allegedly hit at Buc-ee’s is expected to survive after suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

Reid’s condition after shooting himself in the head was unclear as of midday Sunday, with officials saying he was hospitalized in critical condition. Police have not yet said what charges he will face if he survives.
