A man from Kentucky is facing serious charges after allegedly stabbing the mother of his child nearly 20 times in front of their 2-year-old daughter. Following the brutal attack, he reportedly cleaned his hands to comfort the child before wrapping the victim’s body in blankets.
Roberto Buffill-Paredes, aged 43, is charged with murder, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence in connection with the death of Anisleys Font Lantaron in Lexington. Police were called to a residence on the 2500 block of Larkin Road at around 10:45 a.m. on January 15. Upon arriving, officers discovered Lantaron with multiple stab wounds and she was declared dead at the scene.
During a recent hearing, a Lexington police detective provided testimony to establish sufficient evidence for the case to proceed to a grand jury. Detective James Chism detailed that Lantaron sustained stab wounds to her torso, left arm, upper back, and the back of her neck, as reported by local CBS affiliate WKYT.
Chism revealed that Buffill-Paredes himself contacted 911, admitting to stabbing the victim. Shortly after, another call was made requesting a welfare check on Lantaron.
The suspect reportedly confessed to the stabbing, which occurred in the kitchen. After the assault, he allegedly cleaned his hands and the scene, including the weapons used. He then went to console his daughter. According to Chism, Buffill-Paredes moved Lantaron’s body from the kitchen to the living room, where he wrapped it in blankets and secured it with tape.
“He claimed to do this so that his daughter wouldn’t see the incident,” Chism said, per WKYT.
Defense attorney Marcel Radomile indicated the victim and his client may have had a child custody dispute.
“He was the primary caregiver for their daughter and he’s hoping to be one day reunited,” Radomile said.
The case can now go to a grand jury, which will determine whether to indict Buffill-Paredes as charged. He has pleaded not guilty and remains in jail on a $1 million bond.
