In Kansas, police apprehended a woman on Tuesday, just over a week following the death of her 4-year-old son, who allegedly succumbed to injuries suggestive of child abuse.
As reported by KAKE, the young boy, Tiuri Blunt-Porrata, passed away on December 8 after being admitted to the hospital in a critical state. Initially, Daniel Martin, aged 34, faced charges of child abuse after Blunt-Porrata’s demise. However, further investigation prompted detectives to also charge the boy’s mother, 27-year-old Tyne Blunt.
The exact nature of Martin’s relationship with Blunt-Porrata remains undisclosed. Rick Pena, a spokesperson for Wichita police, informed KAKE that Martin was initially indicted for child abuse pending the results of an autopsy, which later led to an additional charge of murder.
Authorities claim that Martin’s alleged abuse of Blunt-Porrata spanned from July 1 through December 8, although specific details were not released.
Tyne Blunt now faces charges of first-degree murder and aggravated child endangerment. Her bail has been set at $750,000.
