A woman from the outskirts of Chicago was discovered deceased on Tuesday afternoon following a distress call from her husband to the police. He reported witnessing, via their home surveillance system, another man pursuing his wife.
The husband expressed his concern that his wife was in imminent danger, suspecting the pursuer to be her former spouse, according to a statement from the Oswego Police.
Upon arrival at the residence, officers found the woman had died inside the house.
According to police, a witness noted someone was seen “fleeing” the vicinity. In response, authorities deployed police dogs and drones to track down the individual. Witnesses also shared details about the suspect’s car, including its license plate number.
Roughly 25 minutes after the husband’s emergency call, an officer identified the suspect’s car and apprehended a man fitting the description. This individual, the victim’s ex-husband, was detained during a traffic stop.
“Preliminary investigation indicates the suspect followed the victim into the garage and attacked her,” police said.
An autopsy is to be conducted on Thursday, and no further information was released, including names of the victim and suspect or whether any charges had been filed.
“Detectives have obtained multiple search warrants and have conducted a large area search with the assistance of members from the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, Yorkville Police Department, Montgomery Police Department, Plano Police Department, and the Oswego Fire Protection District,” police said, promising more information “as it becomes available.”
