New York police have revealed that a suicide note was discovered the morning after Food Network star Anne Burrell was found deceased in her home last year.

Anne Burrell, aged 55, was discovered by her husband at their Brooklyn residence on June 17. Her death has been officially classified as a suicide. According to a report by People, a New York police investigator found a “suicidal note” in the main bedroom following her passing.

In addition to the note, police stated that the investigator uncovered journal entries in the same room that also suggested suicidal thoughts.

The police report describes how Burrell’s husband noticed their bed was unusually made, prompting him to search further, only to find Anne unresponsive on the bathroom floor, surrounded by a number of over-the-counter medications.

As reported by People, Burrell’s husband informed the police that she had never previously attempted suicide nor discussed the idea. The night before her tragic death, Burrell had performed improv for the first time at a Brooklyn venue.

In July, the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled Burrell’s death a suicide, listing her cause of death as “acute intoxication” due to the effects of alcohol, amphetamine, and antihistamines.
