In a tragic incident at a secondary school, eight individuals, including the gunman, lost their lives, with an additional two fatalities discovered in a residence linked to the event.

On Tuesday, ten people, among them the shooter, perished in a mass shooting at a Canadian high school.

In the small community of Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, six people were fatally shot within the school premises, according to a report by Reuters. Two more victims were found dead in a nearby home associated with the incident, while another succumbed to injuries while being transported to the hospital.

Additionally, two individuals suffered serious injuries and were hospitalized, with approximately twenty others receiving treatment for less severe wounds.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have not disclosed whether the victims were students, faculty, or other school staff.

The shooter, described as female, was found dead with a self-inflicted injury.

An active shooter alert described the suspect “as female in a dress with brown hair,” and Police Superintendent Ken Floyd said that was the person found dead in the school.

Tumbler Ridge is a remote town in the Rocky Mountain foothills with a population of about 2,400. The Tumbler Ridge Secondary School has about 160 students in grades 7 through 12, its website says.

The school has been closed for the rest of the week.

No further information was released for the time being.
