A teenager from Florida, aged 15, is facing adult charges after allegedly killing a fellow student over a minor altercation where the victim reportedly bumped into him and did not apologize.
The tragic event unfolded at approximately 2:45 p.m. on October 9 at Vogt-Meloon Park, located on West Oak Ridge Road in Orlando, according to a probable cause arrest affidavit. Upon arrival, officers from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office discovered 16-year-old Pinien Dalmacy suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper left side of his head. Emergency personnel quickly transported Dalmacy to a nearby hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased by medical staff.
Witnesses pointed to Jacori Antonio Redding as the suspect. Investigators later uncovered that Redding became infuriated after Dalmacy accidentally bumped into him in the hallways of Oak Ridge High School. When Dalmacy did not offer an apology, Redding reportedly issued a challenge for a fight at a park close to the school, according to police statements.
While en route to the park, Redding allegedly taunted Dalmacy and displayed gang signs. The confrontation escalated when Dalmacy reportedly threw the first punch, leading to a physical altercation. During the scuffle, Redding is accused of pulling out a firearm and fatally shooting Dalmacy. A video recording of the incident corroborated the witnesses’ testimonies, deputies noted.
Following the shooting, Redding returned to the school where officers intercepted him. He claimed he acted in self-defense and was found carrying the alleged murder weapon in his backpack. Redding was subsequently arrested and charged with manslaughter, possession of a firearm on school premises, and possession of a firearm by a minor.
A motion for pretrial detention said Redding had nearly 40 disciplinary incidents in school, with roughly half of them being related to fighting. In a text message about two months before the shooting, Redding allegedly expressed his desire to take out a gun during a fistfight and shoot someone, which is exactly what he is accused of doing.
Deputies also noted he was previously arrested and out on bond for grand theft of a motor vehicle.
He’s currently in the Orange County Jail without bond. His next court date is scheduled for Wednesday.
