Maurice Harrison, a TikTok creator known as Girlalala, tragically lost her life in Florida, reportedly shot by her boyfriend following a heated argument in his car.

Shanoyd Whyte Jr., 25, faces first-degree murder charges with a firearm related to the death of the well-known Pompano Beach hairdresser on November 14, according to a statement from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities responded to a call in Lauderdale Lakes shortly before 7 p.m., discovering Harrison in the passenger seat, suffering from multiple gunshot injuries.

The 21-year-old was immediately transported to Broward Health Medical Center, where she was later declared deceased.

The sheriff’s office confirmed that Whyte Jr., who had been in a long-term relationship with Harrison, was apprehended at the scene.

Through their investigation, authorities determined that Whyte and Harrison “were engaged in a verbal argument which turned physical” while sitting inside Whyte’s vehicle, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The statement noted, “At some point, the victim was shot while sitting in the car.” 

Harrison was best known for her now defunct TikTok account, where the self-proclaimed “wig influencer” had amassed more than 235,000 followers, according to NBC Miami. She also attracted more than 42,000 followers on her Instagram account, where she showed off bright-colored wigs. 

Rapper JT remembered Harrison on social media, sharing a video inside a night club and using the hashtags #protecttranswomen and #proteckblackwomen.

“Rest beautiful girlala!” the rapper wrote on Instagram. “We love you & Heaven will never be boring now that you are there, your boldness, energy, humor & beauty will be missed! You never missed a chance to show me love & for that I’m forever grateful. I’m sorry this happened to you!”

Whyte, a former defensive lineman at Bethune-Cookman University, is currently being held at the Broward Sheriff’s Office’s main jail. No bond has been set, according to jail records reviewed by Oxygen. It’s unclear whether he has retained an attorney.
