An Alabama woman has tragically lost her life in a shooting incident, allegedly at the hands of her boyfriend, who had called 911 claiming she was attempting a break-in.
On Thursday, officers from the Birmingham Police Department’s West Precinct responded to an emergency call shortly after 12:15 p.m. The caller reported that a woman had been shot while allegedly trying to enter a home in the 2000 block of 10th Street in Pratt City, as reported by AL.com.
Upon arrival, detectives discovered 20-year-old Bria McNeal-Williams from Center Point lying unresponsive near the back door of the residence. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service pronounced her dead at 12:30 p.m.
The 911 call was made by 25-year-old Jeffrey Rogers, who claimed that he had shot someone attempting to break into his house, according to Officer De’Rell Freeman.
By Saturday, police investigations revealed that the circumstances surrounding the shooting were domestic, confirming that McNeal-Williams and Rogers were involved in a romantic relationship.
Rogers has been charged with murder. He’s also charged with a firearm possession.
