In the early hours of the morning in Gainesville, Florida, an alarming incident unfolded involving the attempted robbery of a pickup truck driver, ultimately leading to the arrest of two individuals. The suspects, identified as 22-year-old Leeandra Morris and 32-year-old Corey A. Robinson, now face charges related to the alleged crime.

According to the victim’s account provided to the Gainesville Police Department, the unsettling encounter took place at Pinewood Estates on NE 39th Avenue. While seated in his truck, the driver observed two individuals approaching his vehicle. Morris reportedly advanced towards the front of the truck, making a gesture as if preparing to brandish a weapon. She then attempted to open the driver’s side door, only to find it locked. In a quick reaction, the victim shifted his vehicle into drive and moved forward in an attempt to escape. At this moment, Robinson allegedly positioned himself in front of the truck, seemingly to aid Morris in her efforts to gain entry.

After the incident, the victim noted that the pair remained nearby. Police officers soon arrived and discovered Morris emerging from a wooded area, donning attire that matched the victim’s description. During the arrest, Morris reportedly resisted, necessitating officers to forcibly place her in a patrol car.

Once in custody, Morris chose to exercise her right to remain silent, opting not to answer questions without legal counsel present. The investigation continues as authorities seek to unravel more details surrounding the case.

Post Miranda, Morris reportedly did not want to answer questions without an attorney.

When officers approached Robinson, he allegedly ignored commands to get on the ground and was escorted to the ground, where he allegedly tucked his hands under his body. A search incident to arrest reportedly produced about 3.2 grams of marijuana.

Post Miranda, Robinson reportedly said he didn’t do anything; he said he hadn’t been with Morris and did not know what officers were talking about.

Morris has been charged with attempted unarmed robbery and resisting an officer without violence. She has three misdemeanor convictions (non-violent) and is on probation for shoplifting and trespassing. Senior Judge Bo Bayer set bail at $6,000.

Robinson has been charged with attempted unarmed robbery, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, and resisting an officer without violence. He has eight felony convictions (one violent) and nine misdemeanor convictions (one violent); he has served one state prison sentence and was released in 2019. He recently served 32 days in the Alachua County Jail for shoplifting, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting an officer without violence, and was released on September 20. Senior Judge Bo Bayer set bail at $30,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
