In a tragic incident that has shaken the community, three men were fatally shot during their vacation in Florida, an act authorities are labeling as “horrific and senseless.” The victims, identified as brothers Robert Luis Kraft, 70, from Holland, Michigan, and Douglas Joseph Kraft, 68, from Columbus, Ohio, along with their friend James John Puchan, 68, from Galeno, Ohio, were killed by gunfire on January 17. The attack took place in front of a residence at the Indian Point Subdivision, according to a statement from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office provided to Oxygen.

The trio had journeyed to Florida with the intention of attending a car show in Kissimmee. To facilitate their visit, they had rented an Airbnb property. This information was shared in a joint statement by their families, also relayed by the sheriff’s office to Oxygen. The statement detailed that while the men were dealing with rental car issues and preparing for their return trip, they were unknowingly under surveillance by an unidentified observer, who was already well-known to law enforcement in the area.

“There were no known interactions between the men and this individual prior to the event; they were then approached and senselessly murdered. This was a random, tragic act,” the family statement read, highlighting the shock and randomness of the crime.

In the aftermath, police identified the suspect as 29-year-old Ahmad Jihad Bojeh. Officers observed him fleeing towards his nearby residence. Following the issuance of a search warrant, authorities found two firearms in Bojeh’s home. However, it remains unclear if these weapons were used in the incident, leaving many questions still unanswered as the investigation continues.

Police said they witnessed the suspect—later identified as 29-year-old Ahmad Jihad Bojeh—flee toward his nearby home. After obtaining a warrant, authorities discovered two firearms in Bojeh’s home, although it’s currently unclear whether the aforementioned weapons were involved in the crime.

Bojeh was booked into the Osceola County jail and charged with three counts of murder. On January 18, Bojeh made his first appearance in court and was denied bond. A spokesperson for the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office tells Oxygen that Bojeh has not yet entered a plea.

“There is no threat to the community,” Osceola County Sheriff Christopher Blackmon, said in the press release, “as a suspect of these horrific and senseless murders has been caught and arrested by Osceola County deputies.”

The victims’ families shared their sorrow in the joint statement.

“These three wonderful men did not deserve this,” read the announcement. “Our families are left with an unexpected, unimaginable loss that cannot be put into words. We ask for privacy, prayers, and respect as we mourn and begin to process this tragedy.”
