GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Shakira Latreece Campbell, 32, found herself back in legal trouble on March 11 after allegedly being caught urinating in the parking garage of a nearby apartment complex. This incident occurred just a week after she completed a 45-day jail sentence for making threats against a police officer.

The incident unfolded around 7:56 a.m. when a maintenance worker at Stadium House Apartments, located at 1642 W. University Avenue, discovered Campbell asleep under the stairs in the garage. After asking her to leave, he later returned only to find her adjusting her pants beside a suspicious puddle.

When the worker expressed his disapproval, Campbell reportedly reacted with hostility, yelling at him and threatening to shoot, which the worker did not consider credible. He subsequently exited the scene and contacted the police.

Upon arrival, the responding officer noted that Campbell continued to shout at the worker from within the garage. The officer observed a small mat and some of Campbell’s belongings under the stairs, along with a damp spot on the floor. Campbell was reportedly yelling that her father was Lord Kartikeya, a deity from Hindu mythology, insisting the employee had no right to speak to her.

When the officer asked Campbell for her side of the story, she reportedly said she didn’t have to talk to him.

Campbell has been charged with trespassing after a warning and violating a statute that includes outraging the sense of public decency. She has one misdemeanor conviction (violent) for a January incident in which she was asked to leave Publix (203 NW 13th St.) after falling asleep at a table; when an officer found her across the street, she started yelling and threatening to kill the officer, his wife, and his children. She also reportedly stated specifically that she would hang the officer and cut his head off. After she entered a plea of nolo contendere to threatening to kill a law enforcement officer, Judge Meshon Rawls sentenced her to 45 days in jail with credit for 45 days served, and she was released on March 4.

Campbell also has an unspecified criminal history in other Florida counties and in California, Alabama, Mississippi, Virginia, New York, Maryland, North Carolina, and Tennessee.

Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $5,000, and Campbell remains in the Alachua County Jail.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
