The dad of one of the four slain University of Idaho students says she didn’t suffer during the attack, which reportedly took place as the victims were sleeping.
In an interview with “Good Morning America” on Tuesday, Steve Goncalves said his daughter, Kaylee Goncalves, died quickly after an unknown intruder killed her and three of her friends on November 13, inside a rented off-campus home near the school.
“It was fast and nobody suffered and nobody felt like that kind of pain,” Steve said.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Kaylee and fellow students, Madison Mogen, 21; Ethan Chapin. 20; and Xana Kernodle, 20, were found stabbed to death sometime between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., according to police.
The killer used a fixed-blade knife in stabbings, according to police. The weapon has not been found and the suspect remains elusive.
“The detective said this weapon is probably something [the killer] paid money for and something that they’re proud of,” Steve added.
Steve is now hoping that investigators are piecing the puzzle together to make an arrest soon.
“I have to assume and hope that this is all part of their plan and … they’ve got this all figured out,” he said. “I know that there’s some really good, hard-working guys and girls that are on this case that I’ve met. And they looked me in the eyes and they told me straight-out that they’re working and they’re doing everything in their power.”

“My wife’s biggest fear, part of the reason we didn’t have a funeral, is because she couldn’t be guaranteed that that monster was going to not be there.”
Local, state and federal authorities are continuing to investigate and collect evidence from the scene. Colonel Kedrick Wills, director of the Idaho State Police, previously said all resources are being brought in to identify those responsible for the murders.
“We want to do everything we can to make sure this is done correctly and that the people that are responsible for this are brought to justice,” Wills told reporters.
