Anna Maciejewska relocates to the United States from her native country to pursue further studies at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. She already holds dual bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and computer science, with a focus on actuarial mathematics, from Warsaw University.
Initially, Anna embarks on a career in the financial sector with ING before moving to Voya Financial in West Chester, Pennsylvania. It is during a ski trip that she encounters Allen Gould, and the two quickly form a strong connection.
After two years of dating, Anna and Allen decide to tie the knot, celebrating their union with two ceremonies within a span of 90 days. They first have a civil ceremony in the United States, followed by a Catholic Mass in Warsaw, surrounded by Anna’s family and friends.
Anna’s colleagues grow worried when she ceases all communication, and their concern deepens when she fails to appear at work on April 10. One concerned coworker contacts the State Police to request a welfare check on her well-being.
A police officer is sent to Anna’s residence. Upon arrival, the officer knocks at the front door but receives no response. He then proceeds to circle the house, peering through the windows in search of any signs of activity.
