UPDATE: Indiana Woman Found Alive 7 Days After House Fire

An Indiana woman who vanished after a house fire last week has been found safe.

According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Britney Gard, 46, police “located in a wooded area 2.5 miles” from her Putnam County, residence on Wednesday.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, she was last seen September 30, after a fire at a residence off County Road 600 North.

Police said that fire investigators, who are still working to determine what happened, indicated that the fire to be suspicious.

Gard left behind her purse and vehicle, according to her sister.

The sheriff’s office previously said that the fire had been limited to one area of the home. Additional information is expected to be released after the investigation is complete.

“She is being cleared by medical staff now,” the sheriff’s office said on Facebook Wednesday. “No further details are available at this time.”
