Investigators say they uncovered a “strong possibility of foul play” at the apartment of a missing Michigan woman’s ex-boyfriend.

Police searched the apartment — in Roseville, a Detroit suburb — on Tuesday, looking for information about 30-year-old Ashley Elkins, who hasn’t been seen or heard from since January 2.

Elkins, a hair stylist and mother of two, left that morning to run errands, WJBK reported, and texted someone a short time later that she was headed back to her home in Warren from a beauty supply shop.

Family members said her phone pinged near the ex-boyfriend’s apartment, and her car was found abandoned nearby.

When police initially responded to the apartment, they found neither Elkins nor the ex-boyfriend.

Police said they have spoken with the ex-boyfriend several times, took a dumpster from the apartment as evidence, and have executed a total of 20 search warrants in their search for the missing mom.

Elkins’ mother, Monika Elkins, told WXYZ that the ex-boyfriend booked an appointment at her daughter’s home salon using a fake name on December 31.

“It was him, and (her sisters) were in the house quiet,” Monika Elkins said. “She told (her sisters) to be quiet. He knocked on the front door and the side door and he left. And here, it’s … days later and she’s gone.”
