A body found at a Minnesota landfill on Saturday is a 16-year-old boy who vanished in May.
KIMT reported that Jordan Collins Jr.’s body was found at the Elk River Landfill, which authorities began searching in early June. His cause of death was not disclosed.
Collins’ body was reportedly in a 200-by-200-foot trash cell that was four feet deep. Anoka County Sheriff Brad Wise revealed that video footage that video footage from May 13 — five days after Collins’ reported disappearance — suggested Collins’ body was put in a Columbia Heights dumpster before ending up in a garbage truck, according to Bring Me the News.
Collins was last seen at an apartment in Columbia Heights where he had been staying with his father since mid-April.
Authorities previously revealed that they believed Collins was being held against his will. Wise said there is a person of interest in this case, but he did not disclose their identity. No arrests have been made.
When asked whether Collins’ death is being investigated as a murder, Wise quipped, “Well, a dead body wound up in a landfill, so I guess draw your own conclusions.”
