Authorities in Indiana have charged two more suspects in connection with the shooting of an Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy.

WDRB reported that on January 9, police arrested Victoria Howard, 35, of New Albany, on charges of assisting a criminal and false informing. Investigators believe Howard helped the shooting suspect relocate to Louisville.

Officers served an arrest warrant to James Adams, 37, at Scott County Jail, where he is serving time for unrelated drug charges. Adams faces charges of assisting a criminal and false informing. Police stated that Adams “was instrumental in helping Schepers get to Craig Street in Louisville.”

As CrimeOnline previously reported, a man shot an Indiana sheriff’s deputy on January 3 in the early morning hours.

Indiana State Police reported that the incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. when Orange County Deputy Zach Andry stopped to investigate a car pulled over on the side of Highway 150 near West Baden.

Andry suspected some sort of criminal activity during the traffic stop and asked the driver, 33-year-old Austin Schepers, to step out of the car. Instead, Schepers shot Andry four times and sped off, leaving the deputy bleeding in the roadway.

After surgery later that morning, Andry remained in critical but stable condition.

The Courier-Journal reported that on January 4, around 7:30 p.m., officers found Austin Schepers in the backyard of a house located in the 3700 block of Wheeler Avenue near Craig Avenue in Louisville, Kentucky. Schepers began shooting at the police, who returned fire.

Officers pronounced Schepers dead at the scene.
