In a troubling case that has recently come to light, California police are actively searching for a 9-year-old girl who has been missing for an entire year, yet her absence has only just been reported.
The situation was brought to the attention of authorities on Tuesday when a school administrator contacted the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office regarding Melodee Buzzard’s extended absence from school. Upon visiting Buzzard’s home, officers spoke with her mother but found no trace of Melodee. The mother was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for her daughter’s whereabouts, as reported by the Santa Maria Times.
Police confirmed that the last verified sighting of Melodee was approximately one year ago. Alarmingly, the most recent photograph of her dates back two years, underscoring the urgency and mystery surrounding her disappearance.
It remains uncertain at this stage whether authorities suspect any foul play or if Melodee’s mother is under suspicion. However, law enforcement officials have classified the young girl as “at risk,” highlighting the serious nature of the case, as noted by KTLA.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is appealing to the public for any information that could assist in locating Melodee Buzzard. Those with relevant details are encouraged to contact investigators at 805-681-4150. For those who wish to remain anonymous, a tipline is available at 805-681-4171.
